Paolo Nutini has donated gig tickets to an auction in aid of The Brain Tumour Charity.
Celebrities including Ben Whishaw, Joe Lycett, Brendan O’Carroll, Chris and Rosie Ramsey, Adam Kay, Alex Horne and Dame Jacqueline Wilson have shown their support for the Piece of Mind: The Brain Tumour Charity Auction.
Auctioneers, Lyon & Turnbull, are running the fundraising sale.
It comes after mum-of-one Theo Burrell, 35, was diagnosed with an aggressive grade 4 glioblastoma last summer.
Expert Theo, from Edinburgh, joined Lyon & Turnbull in 2011 and the Antiques Roadshow team in 2018.
‘Receiving my diagnosis, at the age of 35, when my son was one year old, was devastating,’ Theo said.
‘Overnight everything had changed. Suddenly I’d gone from being a healthy person in the middle of my life with a new baby, to having incurable cancer with maybe only a year or two left to live.
‘What followed was months of surgery and treatment to try and prolong my life, and although I continue to make the best of each day, my tumour will return and it will kill me.
‘My care has been excellent and new advances in science have helped me fight cancer so far. However, only by funding research into brain tumours can we get closer to a life-saving cure.’
Fans of Paisley-born singer Nutini can bid on two tickets to Latitude Festival, with a meet-and-greet with the star himself after his headline set.
He has also donated a signed Fender acoustic guitar which will go to the highest bidder.
Exclusive tickets to the Chris and Rosie Ramsey Show at Wembley Arena, a private session with the Dogfather Graeme Hall, a Michelin-starred lunch with This is Going to Hurt author Adam Kay, and a one-off vase hand-crafted by comedian Joe Lycett are also up for grabs.
Gina Almond, director of fundraising for The Brain Tumour Charity, said: ‘We are hugely grateful to Theo and everyone working together on the auction.
‘There are some amazing items so kindly donated and the funds raised will make a huge difference to our work to accelerate a cure for brain tumours and double survival and halve the harm they cause.’
Despite 12,000 people being diagnosed every year with a primary brain tumour, survival rates have barely improved in 40 years.
Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer in children and adults under 40, yet investment in research is low, and there is currently no cure.
The auction will take place online at www.pieceofmind.auction between 14-21 June.
