C-listed building church conversion for sale

An attractive “C” listed church conversion, with a stunning contemporary interior enjoying a magnificent setting on the Black Isle, is for sale.

The original church dates back to circa 1888, and served the congregation well for over a hundred years. By the late 20th century, demographic and lifestyle changes left its somewhat remote rural location less than ideal.

It was decided to build a new church in the growing village of North Kessock, which opened in 1994. The church was then sold and converted into a private dwelling house around 2012. It is ‘C’ listed.

Presented by Strutt and Parker, it has now been transformed into an astonishingly beautiful home, imaginatively and lovingly converted with great attention to detail. The blend of old and new, traditional and modern is both bold and glorious.

The exterior of the original building has been preserved, with no discernible clue as the to the magnificent creation within. Particular attention has been paid to design and style, culminating in the creation of an ultra-modern contemporary interior within the original walls.

The essence of the original church pervades the entirety of the building, including ornate corbels, exposed stonework, lancet stained glass windows and soaring white walls, which all help create a crisp, spacious haven, flooded with an abundance of natural light.

A vision of vaulted archways and traditional features greets you as you enter the property, where the attention to detail, quality craftsmanship and architecture become immediately evident. The entrance vestibule leads to the hallway and to a splendid open plan sitting room, dining area and kitchen.

Dominated by high arched windows and skylights, this is a light and airy space which is great for entertaining. The contemporary designer kitchen comes with a great selection of wall and base storage units, centre island, Belfast sink, granite worktops, integrated appliances and Rangemaster. There is a utility room located off the kitchen providing further storage and space for white goods.

There are three well pro-portioned double bedrooms on the ground floor, two of which share a cleverly designed Jack and Jill en-suite bathroom. The shower room with a modern, white four-piece suite comprising wc, wash hand basin, bidet and free standing bath is located off the main entrance hallway.

The striking, beautifully carved original pulpit leads to the staircase. This reveals the mezzanine, from which the breath-taking living area can be observed in all its majestic glory. The Master bedroom has two leaded glass windows, exposed roof beams and a luxurious en-suite bathroom. There is a further en suite guest bedroom and walk in storage cupboard leading to the steeple/tower room.

The garden is principally laid to lawn and bounded by mature trees There is outside lighting and a sitting area and large parking area to the front.

Allan Church enjoys a wonderful setting on the periphery of Munlochy, a small remote village, lying at the head of Munlochy Bay, in the Black Isle. Whilst it occupies a semi-rural location, the centre of Inverness, the capital and business centre of the Highlands, is only six miles away.
