A Scots bowling club marking its 150th anniversary has teamed up with a distillery to create a new gin.
Garelochhead Bowling Club, in Argyll and Bute, Scotland, celebrates its 150th anniversary in 2022 and to mark this special milestone, Stirling Distillery have partnered with them to create a bespoke gin.
Sitting on the banks of Gare Loch north of Glasgow, this beautiful town is home to around 4000 people, and the sense of community is what really sets the bowling club apart.
The club is the hub of the community, boasting more than 150 members, both young and old members.
This partnership is a particularly proud moment for distillery co-founder Cameron McCann, who spent his formative years growing up in the Garelochhead area.
Cameron said: ‘Garelochhead holds an important place in my heart as it’s where I spent the first 18 years of my life so I was keen to support the town. It was a popular tourist destination when I was growing up and it still has that old world charm.’
To mark the milestone for the club, the distillery have worked with the membership to create a bespoke product and label, which will exclusively be available to purchase at the bowling club for members to toast to the next 150 years.
Bowling club president Ian Haliday said: ‘We were delighted Stirling Distillery and Cameron agreed to help and support the club in our 150 Anniversary year and we hope having our own gin will draw more members into the club.’
The bowling club will be holding an open day to celebrate the anniversary.
