Scottish celebrities support Glasgow school’s online auction

A HOST of Scottish celebrities is supporting a silent auction to raise funds for an inner-city primary school in Glasgow.

Alan Cumming, Sam Heughan, Sir Ian Rankin, and Elaine C Smith are among the actors, artists, musicians, and writers who have donated more than 100 items.

The online auction begins at 6pm on Thursday 10 November and closes at 6pm on Saturday 12 November.

The sale is trying to raise more than £10,000 to buy supplies and creative materials for Garnetbank primary school.

Karla Black, an artist and parent at the school, said: “Garnetbank primary is a truly special place, with a rich and diverse pupil and staff population, an excellent approach to learning and a culture of respect and care for our children.

“The work the educators do there, despite the challenges they face is simply phenomenal and I’ll do whatever I can to help.”

Barry Burns, Mogwai musician and another Garnetbank parent, added: “I’ve been on to everyone I know to donate something special to this important cause and they’ve all come through.

“The auction site reads like a who’s who of the country’s best creative talent and the memorabilia and prizes available are truly fantastic.”
