STRATHALLAN School in Perthshire is celebrating the victory of one of its pupils at the British Horse Vaulting Championships.
Eva Sinclair, 12, began horse vaulting with Kinross Vaulting Group as a hobby during the coronavirus lockdowns.
Her team was named British Horse Vaulting Champion during a recent competition at Bishop Burton in Yorkshire, and she finished eighth individually.
Last year she was crowned Scottish champion in only her second competition.
“It was amazing to win with the team,” she said. “I was nervous at the start but it was good fun. I’ve never stayed overnight for a two-day competition before.
“I love horse-vaulting because it’s unusual but you get to put your balance to the test and work together with your horse to put on a performance.”
She added: “We’ll keep training through the winter and come up with new music and a new freestyle routine for 2023.”
The equestrian team at Strathallan also covers show jumping, cross country, and dressage.
Every autumn, the independent school hosts a show jumping competition, inviting more than 100 riders from local schools and pony clubs to compete.
