Six Scottish restaurants in world’s top 1,000 by La Liste

HALF a dozen Scottish restaurants have been ranked among the 1,000 best in the world by French food app La Liste.

Restaurant Andrew Fairlie at The Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire scored 91 points from 100.

Number One at The Balmoral in Edinburgh received 89.5, followed by 85 for The Glenturret distillery’s Lalique restaurant, and 84.5 for 21212, also in the Scottish capital.

Leith duo The Kitchin and Martin Wishart received 84.5 and 83.5 respectively.

The Peat Inn in Fife completed the Scottish contingent with 82.5.

A total of 68 restaurants from the UK made it onto the list.

La Liste is “based on the compilation of hundreds of guidebooks, thousands of media publications, and millions of online reviews”.

The app’s publisher said it trawled 1,010 guides and publications from 200 countries to compile its ranking.

Mathew Sherry, chef de cuisine at Number One at The Balmoral, said: “We are incredibly proud to be recognised by La Liste in the top 1,000 restaurants in the world for 2023.

“We are a dedicated and creative team who share a passion for providing our guests with incredible and unforgettable experiences and for our team to be given this acknowledgement is a true honour.”
