Members of the National Trust for Scotland are being offered the opportunity to apply to join the election process for the charity’s board of trustees.
From coastlines to castles, art to architecture, wildlife to wilderness, the Trust cares for heritage sites across Scotland and Trustees will play a key role aiding the Trust in encouraging people to connect with the things that make Scotland unique while protecting them for future generations.
The National Trust for Scotland is the charity that celebrates and protects Scotland’s heritage. It relies on the support of its members and donors to carry out its important work of caring for the natural and built heritage of Scotland for everyone to enjoy.
This summer the conservation charity will hold elections for candidates to stand for four vacancies on the board of trustees.
Trustees are ultimately responsible for the strategic governance of the Trust’s activities and the achievement of the organisation’s charitable purpose to promote the conservation, access, and enjoyment of Scotland’s national and natural treasures.
The Trust is looking for applicants who are able to demonstrate a passion for the cause of the Trust along with high level leadership experience and, in addition, this year applicants with skills or experience in four particular areas are being sought: professional built heritage conservation; natural heritage, wildlife and environment; formal education, learning, and research activities; and current visitor experience and interpretation in heritage or other visitor attractions.
Sir Moir Lockhead, chairman of the board of trustees said: ‘We need new Trustees to help us to continue to take the Trust forward and deliver on our commitment to protect and conserve Scotland’s heritage.
‘These openings on the board offer us the opportunity to bring in new faces, skills and talents to guide our vision in ensuring Scotland’s heritage is valued by everyone and protected for future generations.’
