The Scotland Women’s National Team will travel to the FIFA Women’s World Cup in style this summer, thanks to Walker Slater.
The Tweed specialists will supply the squad with Harris Tweed Hebrides jackets to wear as they fly out to France in June, ensuring the players and coaching staff look the part ahead of the biggest test of their careers so far.
The announcement sees Walker Slater continue their role as an official licensee of the Scottish FA, which has seen them exclusively retail the Scotland National Team Harris tweed since 2015.
Walker Slater will now supply the players with the Iona jacket, a traditional style with the Harris Tweed Hebrides combining the dark blue of the Scotland jersey with the sky blue from the Saltire to give a subtle, modern tweed.
The deep navy backdrop is complimented with sky blue broken stripes, while cuff button detail appears in the form of bright red stitching.
Scottish FA commercial director Chris Rawlings: ‘Having companies with such a strong Scottish heritage as Walker Slater and Harris Tweed Hebrides supporting the Scotland Women’s National Team as they get ready for the World Cup is a massive compliment.
‘We have been working with Walker Slater as an official licensee for some years now and we were delighted when they offered to tailor jackets for the squad for their onward journey to France.
‘The success of the team has been amazing and to see them depart fully kitted out in the official Scotland National Team Harris Tweed will be a proud moment for them.’
Walker Slater director Paul Walker: ‘Walker Slater are delighted to have designed and tailored the jackets for the Scotland Women’s National Team in the official Scotland National Team Harris Tweed for the World Cup.
‘The cloth is instantly recognisable, with the texture and colour of Scotland.
‘Walker Slater have created a modern cut to ensure a great fit for the players and backroom staff and wish the players all the best of luck for the tournament.’
Harris Tweed Hebrides creative director Mark Hogarth: ‘We are proud to partner with Walker Slater in providing the official uniform for the Scotland Women’s National Team’s historic journey to France.
‘The team can now display great Scottish style both on and off the park and we hope it will help propel Shelley Kerr and her squad to great achievements at the World Cup.’
