Revolutionary paint fight hits the Falkirk Wheel

Visitors to the world’s only rotating boat lift are being invited to paint the town (and each other) red, blue, green and orange.

The Falkirk Wheel is getting ready to host its first-ever colour fight on June 29.

Revolution Festival will welcome the ‘Icon Tribe’ and the ‘Genius Tribe’ as they come head to head in a family friendly explosion of colour at 3.15pm. Kids and toddlers will also get the chance to decorate their friends and family in an under-six paint fight taking place at 2.15pm.

The nontoxic eco and skin friendly powder paint is made up of 99% corn starch and 1% natural dyes – making the event safe for both everyone involved and the environment.

The powder might tint light coloured clothes, and for safety reasons shouldn’t be thrown at eyes and mouths. Those who plan on painting their pals are encouraged to bring some common sense, some old clothes, and a pair of cool shades with them on the day just to be safe.

Now in its third year, Revolution Festival is bringing new and exciting elements to an already successful annual family day out. Featuring an array of unique events, performances, and splashes of colour throughout the day, the festival on June 29 will offer fun for everyone.

Visitors will be dazzled by the acrobatic antics of The Showman Circus; walk on water in the Wheel’s zorbs; explore the history of the Union Canal by boot, bike or boat; set off on a Segway safari; take a turn on the Wheel; dance the day away with live entertainment; or take a peek at the paddlers taking part in Lock & Paddle. The event will run from 10am to 5pm.

For those looking to refuel during the festivities, there’ll be stone-baked pizza, artisan ice cream from Falkirk-based parlour The Milk Barn, and an array of sweet and savoury treats on offer in the Wheel’s café, and the outdoor pizza oven and airstream.

Revolution Festival will also see the return of Lock’n’Paddle following up on last year’s record number of vessels on The Falkirk Wheel at one time; with canoeists, kayakers, and stand-up-paddlers getting the rare chance to take a spin on the wheel in their man powered boats.
