Scots actor Mark Bonnar lifts critics’ prize

Scots actor Mark Bonnar has been awarded Best Actor in the Broadcasting Press Guild Awards 2018.

The Edinburgh man was given the prestigious honour for his roles in programmes including Eric, Ernie and Me, which was screened at Christmas on the BBC.

Mark scooped the award for four outstanding performances; Eric, Ernie and Me (BBC Four), Unforgotten (ITV), Apple Tree Yard (BBC One) and Catastrophe (Channel 4).

On Twitter, Mark said: ‘Absolutely blown away to win BPG award for best actor! Thank you so much.’

The BPG Awards – which are for work commissioned in the UK and screened in 2017 – are highly prized by programme-makers because they are selected independently by TV and radio correspondents, critics and previewers.

The 44th annual BPG awards, sponsored by Virgin TV, were presented at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.

Mark will soon be appearing in the next series of Humans on Channel 4.

He has just appeared in the fourth series of Shetland as Duncan Hunter.
