Scottish pop star Lulu is returning home to Glasgow this summer for her only confirmed UK gig in 2018.
Pint sized pop star Lulu needs no introduction. She returns to her hometown at Kelvingrove Bandstand, fresh from her leading role as the glamorous Dorothy Brock in London West End musical spectacular 42nd Street.
It coincides with the 50th anniversary of her TV show Lulu’s Back in Town.
Signed to Decca Records at the age of 15, Lulu is famous for her lively version of the 1964 Isley Brothers cover Shout, which was performed at the closing ceremony of the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Lulu was one of the youngest stars at the age of 19 to have her own TV show 1968’s Lulu’s Back in Town The 50th anniversary of the first show will be on 21 May 1968.
An international household name thanks to To Sir With Love (which was a US number one) from the film of the same name, Lulu also sang the title song to the James Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun, and won the 1969 Eurovision Song Contest with Boom Bang-a-Bang.
Lulu collaborated with Take That in 1993 for a cover of Dan Hartman’s Relight My Fire.
The Dennistoun-born singer, who most recently appeared on BBC TV’s Who Do You Think You Are?, celebrated her 50th year as a recording artist with a return to Decca Records for Making Life Rhyme released in 2015.
Presented by Synergy Concerts , Lulu will be at the Kelvingrove Bandstand on Saturday 23 June, at 7pm, with tickets £37.50.
The gig is suitable for youngsters aged 14+. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
