Favoured for its country sports, Berwickshire offers pheasant and grouse shooting on local estates and on the Lammermuir Hills to the northeast. Golf courses nearby include the Roxburghe, The Hirsel and Duns, and championship courses are within reasonable distance at Gullane, North Berwick and Muirfield.
