A talented Scots singer is to tour the UK with his Irish counterparts, for Celtic Country.
Celtic Country includes Scotland’s international recording artist, from BBC TV’s The Voice, Colin Chisholm, alongside other talents of note, including The New Seekers’ Eve Graham, and Dominic Kirwan.
Colin is well known as the lead singer of the 1970’s hit recording band Bilbo Baggins, with whom he had chart success with She’s Gonna Win. In 1980 along with Brian Spence, his long time musical partner he signed a $2m record deal with CBS America.
Then on Saturday, 27 April 2013, The Voice, Sir Tom Jones, in front of 8.5 million viewers, pressed his button, turned his chair around and invited Colin on to his team.
Colin reached the televised finals of the second series of The Voice UK from over 35,000 auditionees. After years in the business, national recognition of his fantastic voice was gained.
All four judges on the panel praised Colin’s performance, telling him they realised as soon as they heard his voice, that he and Sir Tom Jones were going to make a strong team, with Jessie J, telling Colin, ‘Your vocal technique was superb,’ Danny O’Donoghue said to Sir Tom, ‘It’s got you written all over,’ and Will.i.am stating there was ‘Danger in the mist,’ with Sir Tom and Colin as a team.
There then followed a media scrum following Colin’s appearance on the show, with television appearances on BBC ‘Reporting Scotland’ by Jackie Bird, multiple newspaper features, and interviews on BBC Radio Scotland and Real Radio.
His performance of I Drove All Night, has been viewed on YouTube by over 100,000.
Since his appearances Colin has been in the recording studio working on a new album as well as rehearsing a new live and explosive show.
The show also features Eve Graham, the voice of Coca-Cola’s famous ‘hill top’ commercial – the most successful TV advertising campaign of all time. The song I’d Like To Teach The World To Sing subsequently became a worldwide number one hit and earned her group, The New Seekers, a coveted Grammy nomination.
Dominic Kirwan remains one of the most popular Irish singers touring, performing and recording; his fan-base crosses most age groups. He is admired throughout the world, from the Shetlands to Lands’ End, from Malin to Mizzen with the USA, Australia, New Zealand and a fair bit of everywhere else in between thrown in for good measure.
