Brexit at the heart of Scottish Land & Estate conference

Scottish Land & Estates will hold its annual conference next week at the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh.

The membership organisation for rural businesses, landowners and rural professionals in Scotland, will hold the meeting on Tuesday 29 May.

The conference, sponsored by Barclays and Turcan Connell, will examine the prospects for rural enterprise with less than a year to go until Britain exits the EU.

The event is titled Brexit and beyond: the future for Scottish rural businesses.

The keynote speakers will be Fergus Ewing MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Rural Economy and Connectivity, and Lord Ian Duncan of Springbank, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Scotland.

Speakers, who will also include rural stakeholders, policy decision-makers and Scottish landowners, will, in a mixture of talks and discussion:

• provide an insight into the future of the rural economy

• identify areas of potential investment

• highlight examples of businesses that have overcome challenges or taken innovative approaches to improve business growth or resilience

• explore the implications of Brexit for rural businesses.
