The newly renovated New Lanark Mill Hotel is celebrating its 20th birthday with a new 4 Star status awarded by Visit Scotland.
Unlike any other hotel in Scotland, the New Lanark Mill Hotel was originally an 18th century cotton mill.
After years of painstaking restoration work by New Lanark Trust, the hotel opened for business and pleasure in May 1998, and quickly developed into a popular choice for a short break destination. Visit Scotland have awarded New Lanark with this 4 Star accreditation recognising recent renovations that have taken place.
Located in the heart of New Lanark World Heritage Site this restored 18th century cotton mill village is nestled in the spectacular south Lanarkshire valley in southern Scotland, close to the Falls of Clyde and less than an hour from Edinburgh and Glasgow.
It now has 38 spacious and stylish newly renovated bedrooms with free Wi-Fi internet access and a selection of one and two bedroom self catering Waterhouse cottages.
It also has Mill One Restaurant and the Falls Bar and Lounge as well as business and meeting facilities with eight suites accommodating from two to 200 delegates, a wedding and events centre catering for up to 200 guests and health and fitness club with pool, sauna, steam room, bubble pool, gymnasium and beauty rooms offering a variety of treatments.
All thirty-eight bedrooms enjoy spectacular views across the River Clyde or surrounding conservation area, and the self-catering Waterhouses virtually rest on the banks of the River Clyde. Guests of the hotel can enjoy complimentary use of New Lanark’s extensive facilities, which include a heated indoor swimming pool, gym, sauna or steam room.
John Stirrat, general manager of New Lanark Mill Hotel said: ‘The management and staff of New Lanark Mill Hotel are delighted to announce that following a recent Quality Assurance Audit by VisitScotland, our hotel has been promoted to a new 4 Star rating.
‘We are absolutely delighted to have achieved this accolade following a full bedroom refurbishment, coupled with consistently high levels of service provided by our staff. What a tremendous achievement at the same time as we celebrate our 20th anniversary.
‘We would like to thank all of our customers past and present for your support and loyalty throughout and we look forward to welcoming you back to our 4 Star hotel.’
New Lanark has recently announced their ‘Vision for Our Future’ document which outlines the Trust’s objectives for the World Heritage Site for the next five-10 years and forms the basis for the site’s World Heritage Site Management Plan and this Visit Scotland accreditation is testament to the investment, achievements and hard work by the New Lanark team.
