New single malt launched by Highland Park for global travel retail

Kirkwall’s Highland Park distillery has launched a limited-edition single malt whisky exclusively for the global travel retail market.

Voyage of the Raven, which has distinctive black packaging, draws on the raven’s position in Norse history and mythology. For the Vikings, the raven was a powerful symbol of victory in battle.

The expression is matured in a high proportion of first-fill sherry seasoned oak casks. It is described as having nutmeg, cinnamon, peach skins, aromatic smokiness on the nose, while the palate has notes of sweet vanilla, light cedar, warming spices, aromatic smokiness.

This new expression marks the start of the transition between the current Warrior Series and a new travel retail exclusive range to be launched in spring/summer 2018.

Brand director Jason Craig said: ‘This very special single malt is rich dark and spicy, featuring Highland Park’s signature aromatic smokiness produced by the distillery’s unique woodless peat, hand-cut from Hobbister Moor.
