Creative work will take centre stage at event

A showcase featuring the works of 140 artists and makers is coming to Perthshire.

This year’s Perthshire Open Studios offers the chance to enjoy the work of a fabulous array of 140 artists and makers in studios across one of Scotland’s most beautiful regions.

The nine-day event, from 1-9 September, is an opportunity to meet and chat to painters, potters, woodworkers, jewellery makers and a multitude of other creative people in everything from cottages and converted barns to galleries and tearooms.

Luisa Ramazzotti, the event’s co-founder, said: ‘Right now artists and makers all across the region are busy creating wonderful art and craft for this year’s open studios event.

‘It’s a great chance to meet and chat to some remarkably talented people about their work and to see studios of every kind in towns and villages, and tucked away up country lanes, in every part of this beautiful region.

‘We hope the brochure with its coloured routes, studio locations and artist directory, together with lists of cafes and restaurants, helps visitors to have a wonderful time discovering the art and the inspiring landscapes of Perth and Kinross.’

The Perthshire Open Studios brochure is now available from local visitor centres, libraries, arts venues, cafes and the artists themselves.

One of the great attractions of the event is that it provides a showcase for everyone from professional artists and makers who want to throw open their doors and welcome the public to art clubs and groups getting together to exhibit.

There will be two showcase exhibitions at The Bield, Tibbermore from 25 August to 9 September and at Pitlochry Festival Theatre from 1-28 September in addition to the main open studios.

These will give people the chance to see samples of work by all open studios participants.

The brochure and website provide full details of all those taking part in the 11th annual event HERE, and also suggests seven colour coded routes to help visitors explore.

Perthshire Open Studios is a not for profit organisation which makes a significant contribution to the local economy and generates local community art and craft events throughout the year.
