Well that was 2023! Enjoy Scottish Field’s January issue

Scottish Field’s January magazine is out now and here’s what we have in store for you…

We round out the year by asking seven well-kent Scots for their highlights from the past 12 months and their hopes for 2024, as well as which books and TV series have kept them entertained.

Edinburgh-born Scottish curling skip Bruce Mouat talks sporting success, heroes and how coming out changed his life, while wildlife writer Andy Dobson celebrates the noisy arrival of one of our most storied winter visitors as geese make their way back to the lowlands of Scotland.

And things are hotting up with this month’s food feature, as we speak to Mearns’ Dr Clare Brown about her chilli farm. Supermarket chillies make up a tiny proportion of the Capsicum genus, but Clare hopes to showcase the diversity of flavours and heat intensities out there.

This month’s Producer’s Corner we speak to Kim Cameron from Gin Bothy who is turning her hand to butter making in a bid to keep the centuries old tradition alive.
