Gordon Ramsay future food stars visit Glenapp

CHEF Gordon Ramsay has brought the second series of his Future Food Stars television programme to Glenapp Castle in Argyll.

The 21-bedroom hotel features in the first episode of the series, which will be shown at 9pm tomorrow on BBC One.

“We start and end the series in my homeland, Scotland, and travel all over the UK via Wales, Manchester, Gateshead, Henley, and Oxford,” explained Ramsay.

“The aim really is to showcase and shine a light on some of the amazing places, people and their businesses making the UK food and drink industry so exciting right now.”

The eight-week show features 12 budding food and drink entrepreneurs who compete for a £150,000 investment from Ramsay.

In the opening episode, the chef has to step in to stop some of the contestants’ dishes being served to guests at a dinner.

“The first banquet was an utter shi*show,” exclaimed Ramsay.

“Messy tables, packing boxes every where, raw food – it was a pretty bad start, and I was bloody disappointed; things really could only get better after that.”

This series’ contestants include Rachel Munro, who owns Thyme Café on Alloway Street in Ayr.

“Working with Gordon, getting feedback, bonding with other team members, and learning from their skillsets has made me grow as a person,” she said.

“I’d say overall it was a very positive experience although at the time, because you are so involved, it was hard to see the wood from the trees.

“But looking back, it was one of the best experiences I have ever taken part in and I am really thankful for the opportunity.”
