This is due to 81 percent of the trains arriving on time, its impressive number of businesses nearby including 395 shops, the many amenities on offer, in addition to its central location in Edinburgh city centre. The train station that has the best punctuality in the UK is Stansted Airport, with 90 percent of trains arriving on time.
The second best train station in the UK is Glasgow Central, which scores highly across the board. Like Edinburgh Waverley, Glasgow Central has an impressive range of shops, amenities, and a central location to boot; four out of five trains at Glasgow Central arrive on time.
In comparison, the station that ranks at the bottom of the study is Coventry, where fewer than half of trains arrive on time.
In order to create a ranking list of the best train stations in the UK, the 30 most frequently booked train destinations (according to Omio’s internal booking data) was analysed. The factors examined included the proportion of punctual departures according to the timetable, amenities such as public toilets, wheelchair access, parking spaces, bicycle spaces, and free WiFi.
