Favourite place for an autumn break

autumnblog-pic21One of the funny things about working on a monthly magazine is how the year drifts away from you so quickly. Here we are in July hoping to enjoy some more long summer days with endless blue skies and, if you are one of my kids, the chance of some more days on the beach enjoying a 99 ice cream cone.

Yet at the magazine our thoughts are already turning to autumn in Scotland in all its tints of orange and red. Compiling the Autumn Breaks guide is always fun and. even as the sun streams in through the office window, I find my thoughts drifting to frosty mornings and golden glens. One of my favourite places once the trees have turned is Torridon. It is a truly beautiful part of Scotland and one of my favourite memories is of watching a golden eagle soaring above the mountains at the Beinn Eighe Nature Reserve on a sunny October day.

If any of you have a favourite memory of an autumn break in Scotland then let me know.

Henrietta.
