Stargazing, carol-singing, a pantomime and a festive craft fair are part of an action-packed programme planned for the National Museum of Rural Life’s Christmas Fair at the Farm event.
It will take place at the East Kilbride attraction on Sunday, 9 December.
This special festive countryside celebration includes the chance to see donkeys in a Christmas nativity scene at the Museum’s historic working farm and to enjoy storytelling sessions and meet Shetland ponies, goats and alpacas in the animal marquee.
KYBO theatre group will present their Santa’s Magic Workshop pantomime in the main museum building, where visitors can meet Santa and listen to carols performed by Glasgow Youth Choir. The event also features craft-making sessions and a craft fair with stalls selling seasonal gifts including handcrafted decorations, wreaths, jewellery and hampers.
Families can learn about heavenly constellations with the Clydesdale Astronomical Society and book an elf-driven tractor ride to the farm to enjoy scented pomander-making and traditional Victorian parlour games in the farmhouse plus stock-judging in the farmyard.
They can also see the Museum’s magnificent Clydesdale horses as well as cattle, pigs, sheep, hens and Highland cattle, Airgread II and Ceo V.
Tickets to the event also allow visitors to discover the story of Scotland’s rural past through the fascinating exhibits and displays in the Museum galleries.
Shirley Maciver, general manager, National Museum of Rural Life, said: ‘This is one of our most popular events and features a host of family activities for all ages.
