Dream to Dream takes best lowlands malt award

Kingsbarns Distillery’s Dream to Dram, has been announced as the Best Scotch Lowlands Single Malt at the World Whiskies Awards 2020.

The success has delighted the family-run business, as it continues to make its mark in the spirits world.

The light and floral expression is the first single malt to be distilled at the Fife distillery which is based on the outskirts of St Andrews.

Under the direction and craftmanship of Kingsbarns Distillery manager, Peter Holroyd, Dream to Dram was launched and named in January 2019 after a vision from the local founders to bring whisky to the East Neuk of Fife.

Only one year on and the product has now been recognised as a leading player in the single malt category at the World Whiskies Awards which select the very best international styles to honour and promote to consumers and trade across the globe.

Peter said: ‘It is fitting that we have been recognised in this World Whiskies category for Dream to Dram because it is a bit of a dream for us all.

‘We built the foundations of the distillery around our first flagship single malt with a vision to maximise the local environment and its ingredients and ultimately, reflect the serenity of the East Neuk. It feels fantastic to know this concept has paid off amongst the judges.’

Dream to Dram is slowly crafted with barley harvested from the sun-soaked golden fields of Fife and mixed with mineral water drawn from an aquifer 100 metres below ground level.

As well as an international presence and consumer base, in just over 12 months, it has also collected a Silver (Taste) and Bronze (Design and Packaging) at the International Spirits Challenge 2019; Silver (Taste) at the Scotch Masters 2019 and Highly Commended at the Scottish Whisky Awards 2019.
