Search for Home Of The Year looks north

The search for Scotland’s Home Of The Year continues on our TV screens.

In the fifth instalment of the show, the owners of the first home up for consideration in this week’s instalment of Scotland’s Home of the Year spent more than a year renovating their des res.

And the results are stunning. Their Edwardian villa in the coastal town of Stonehaven has been completely revamped with beautiful period features retained, but sitting alongside a stunning contemporary extension that makes it perfect for family living.

The judges – architect Michael Angus, interior designer Anna Campbell-Jones and lifestyle blogger Kate Spiers – have two more homes to consider and next up is a traditional granite villa in the city of Aberdeen.

With hints of the showhome about it, the judges are impressed at how the owners have carefully chosen every piece of furniture and accessory to give each room a different vibe.

In rural Aberdeenshire, there’s another self-built to consider, a beautiful, modern country home built on the site where an old stone bothy once stood. Sliding doors, huge oversized windows and carefully-placed skylights make the most of the views.

Scotland’s Home of the Year will be shown on Wednesday 8 May on BBC Scotland, from 8-8.30pm.
